WHY DO YOU WORRY SO?

January 23, 2019

Lately, I’ve been quietly freaking out.  And after the “derrring do” this past weekend in Washington, even more than usual.

I’m not always quiet about it but the Captain has selective hearing and when immersed in Sudoku, turns deaf anyway.

But there I was, freaking out. I’m an immigrant and thus feel all this “stuff” deeply. I will not list everything that qualifies as “stuff” in my life at present.

Morning Quiet Time is precious.

My mind is clear, not yet troubled and muddied with thoughts and concerns amplified by what I’m reading. Prayer time is followed by Oswald Chambers and this morning, there it was:

“Every time circumstances press, say, “Speak Lord” and make time to listen.”

I did and whiplash quick came my answer.

“Why do you worry so? I am in control.”

Off to the Good Book I went.

Matthew 6:25-34 NIV - Do Not Worry - “Therefore I tell you, - Bible ...

My favorite verse?  Vs 25 - “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

The quote I love best is attributed to Winston Churchill. He said,

“I remember the story of the old man who said on his death bed that he had had a lot of trouble in his life, most of which had never happened.”

Well yes.

Feeling much perkier, I delved deeper.

Psalm 46:40

“Let go of your concerns! Then you will know that I am God. I rule the nations. I rule the earth.”

Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the thoughts and plans I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.”

Mark 27:10

Jesus glanced around him and said, “With men it’s impossible but not with God; for all things are possible with God.”

This does not mean we should sit back and do nothing. It does mean we should not wring our hands and throw all hope out the door.

“Why do you worry so?”

Cyber Hugs and Blessings All.
