WHEN YOU DISAGREE WITH YOUR “BETTERS.”

January 26, 2018

Philippians 3:13 ”…forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.”

I’ve always interpreted this to mean that one should leave all the bad stuff behind. Memories; what we did do when we should not have done it; and what we did not do when we should have done it – Aaargh…. This is getting much too convoluted!

Bottom line.

No more dwelling on “what if” and “if only.” (BTW, this is super hard for me.)

But reaching out to what is available here and now and to what I can still accomplish in the time left to me.

Then, I trip over the following in the NKJV Study Bible.

“Paul indicates that it’s an ongoing process. He ‘might’ even be implying that he wanted to forget everything so that he would not rest on his past successes in Christ, but continue to labor for the Lord.”

I find myself totally confused. Okay, the “expert” who wrote this does use the word “might” which indicates some doubt.

But still. I’ve never even considered that I had had past successes. In fact, I try hard to forget the past.

Suddenly I’m thinking. Muttering under my breath as I explore the concept.

And I don’t like it.

I decide I prefer my interpretation.

Cyber hugs and blessings to all who read this. The Past is the Past.

Let it Be.
