THE POWER OF THREE.

January 24, 2018

Somewhere early in the present century there was a delightful series called “CHARMED.”

It involved three sisters. Three witches. With enormous power. When they worked together.

Individually they weren’t that shabby either. Prue, the eldest, had the power of telekinesis and could levitate and send stuff flying. On her demise she was replaced by Paige with similar powers.

Next in line was the motherly one, Piper. She could freeze people. She also married a white-lighter. That was a no-no. She gave birth to a cutie with super-powers. He went off the rails and caused much grief.

Baby in the family was Phoebe. A fresh-faced young beauty who slowly grew into her powers of premonition and in the process fell in love with a DEMON.

Not just an ordinary demon. No, a gorgeous demon. A hunk. A tortured conflicted being, torn between his evil nature and his love for Phoebe and wanting to do good.

Pure fantasy. Lovely stuff.

I lapped it up. And sighed with contentment every time the girls worked together. Stuff would go flying. Other stuff, and demons, would blow up. Good always prevailed.

On a whim I decided to check how often the Power of Three or similar is invoked in the Bible.

I found a learned link: "The Use of Three in the Bible". I read about three pages, yup, three and gave up. Anyone brave and interested enough, be my guest.

So I still don’t have an answer as to why the thread of three runs throughout the Bible. Was it to foreshadow the Holy Trinity?

Whatever the reason, I decided that the only Power of Three I need to concern myself with is The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.

The Holy Trinity. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.
