Huh?! Haven’t I been hammering this “you have to ask” thing lately? Why the about face?
January 20, 1961. John F Kennedy’s inaugural address and the famous words – “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.”
We’re always asking God to do things for us. (Hopefully that comes after we’ve praised Him and thanked him for what we have already.) But what can we do for God?
Grace can’t be earned and good works alone won’t get you to heaven. I think.
I took the dogs for a walk and while they sniffed, did their morning thing and chased squirrels (as far as their 16 feet retractable lead will allow); I rolled it around in my mind.
The answer was so obvious; I couldn’t understand why I had to think about it. Downright embarrassing, that was.
“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
There you go. Don’t underrate a smile, a compliment, a kind word, a hug; you are doing it for God.
From me to you, Cyber hugs and Blessings.
I don’t have translations for the video link, it does not need the English.
